Hi!

I’m a writer, editor, and critic. Right now, I’m the Arts Staff Writer at the L.A. Times. Before this, I was a freelancer, writing about arts & culture — with a focus on film & TV — and what contemporary culture can tell us about about who we are. Last year, I was selected to participate in the National Critics Institute.

Recently, I’ve written for the New York Times Magazine, Rolling Stone, Hyperallergic, the Chicago Sun-Times, and the Boston Globe. Before freelancing, I was a Culture Reporter at TIME Magazine. Before that, I was the Culture Fellow at the New York Times, as part of their third annual fellowship class. And before that, I was a Features Reporter at the L.A. Times (I also worked on their Arts & Entertainment team.)

I was also awarded a Pulitzer Center Reporting Fellowship grant to write about memory work between Colombia & Chicago; this project later became part of the World Humanities Report.
